How to get my ex back?
Well, my ex was my best friend, we'd been friends since he was 13 and I was 14 (I'm 18 now and hes about to turn 17, I'm a year 2 months older). We were together for a year. We broke up 6 months ago… it was ending for a long time but it wasn't entirely anyones fault. He has a lot of personal and mental problems (really bad anger problems, self harming to let it out, ADHD, and hes now been diagnosed with Autism and Schizophrenia, and he 'dissociates', meaning he stops feeling anything, sometimes from specific situations and sometimes just for everything in general. Before we broke up it was just ADHD and the anger). We loved each other very much, we kept our relationship private because we both felt more to each other then just a boyfriend or a girlfriend. I've never had any other relationship because I find it hard to connect with people. He had had 2 girlfriends before me. One when he was really too young, but infatuated, that lasted a few months, and one that lasted 7 months, and he left her for me because although he loved her he said he could never love her or anyone as much as he loved me.
Our relationship went up and down for a while at the end and it just became too much for him… he'd wanted to end it for a while, then he wanted to be with me again, but then he just snapped, wanted to end it and did. He started seeing someone else 3 weeks later and they've been together ever since.. he didn't know her before he broke up with me. I know hes not just a 'player' hes just the kind of guy that has girlfriends rather then just random girls.. it really hurts but I need to get past that. I know that if we get back together she will just have been another girl like the first one. But I'm a constant in his life
For the first few months he really wanted to be friends and still be close to me… but he put me through a lot. We'd argue and put each other through hell because I still wanted to be with him and he didn't want to be with me. But still we'd sit next to each other on the bus going to college almost every day. Sometimes he'd call me briefly… mostly I called him. I was definitely desperate, needy, everything you SHOULDN'T be… but he was all over the place because at that point he hadn't been diagnosed (hes not schizophrenic where he hears voices, and it is not split personality, his emotions and thoughts are confused, he cant make decisions or know what he wants, a lot of the time he is emotionless and 'flat')
Eventually we argued and his anger got the better of him. He 'snapped' and decided not to talk to me anymore. that was before christmas… he has talked a few times since then. He says I'm the only one he can talk to about everything going on with him, I'm the only one who understands, and I'm the only person he tells. But we still aren't talking again… and we still aren't friends again.
Every now and then we'll talk briefly on the bus. He leant me a book the other day.
I want to know what I can do? I love him and still want to be with him. In my eyes he is still my best friend. This never should have happened to us but it did. Anything I can do, considering I made a right mess of it already?
